GLASS LAB SESSION

First year of the GLASS LAB SESSION will encourage young glass artists and designers. Ten invited participants will have the opportunity to share their creative ideas not only among themselves but also with already established glass artists through consultations and presentations. In addition to individual work in workshops on selected projects, participants will form a short slideshow featuring its existing portfolio and they will discus about used glass techniques, sources of inspiration and concepts..

Our goal

GLASS LAB SESSION will focus mainly on research and development of new techniques for glass processing through experiment and play with the material.It seeks to expand the boundaries of existing industrial glass processing and transfer it to artistic creation in the new sense and perception. Novice artists expands further possibilities of self-presentation and workshop capacity utilization Glass Art Centre in Sazava and their subsequent implementation among professionals.

The event Glass Laboratory is taking place from November 23 – 28 presenting attendees with opportunities for creative exchange within the young and enthusiastic environment of Glassworks František – home of Glass Art Centre Cesty Skla/Ways of Glass.

During the event we will employ innovative approaches and new techniques reflective of the theme Circulation. Utilising the high quality working equipment at the glass art centre, the attendees will re-appropriate glass products obtained from Central European factories. Unusual approach challenging the inherent processes of the material and craft, as well as manipulation of environment elements, are pretences of process for this event.
The session will be accompanied by the event SlideJam, open to the public, and final exhibition in gallery František, remaining until 31st of January 2016. The outcome and process of this symposium will be included in the publication Glass Summer 2015.
