Duncal – expansion of game options for mil-sim sports

How it began

As an airsoft player, I know all the benefits of this sport. It is usually played outside in the fresh air and a person participates in an interesting and adrenaline activity. The only problem is the technological limitation of the field. The only things that may be expected during the play are the classics and for some people even mundane game scenarios, such as deathmatch where the players try to “shoot” all the enemies without a deeper meaning or capture-the-flag where it is necessary to get the enemy flag, hence there is a little room for tactics, but it is not sufficient.  

What is the goal of Duncal project?

The objective of Duncal project is to expand the options for the players and for game arenas when making a game choice. Whether it is a game with a fictional bomb where the goal of the attacking team is to activate the bomb in a certain area and the role of the defending team is to prevent it and, if activated, to deactivate the bomb in time. The next step is the option of attaching a device capable of communication either to a weapon or to one’s wrist, which serves the purpose of communication among the players and among Duncal products as well, so that the players can be notified in the event of the bomb activation or timeout, etc. An important constituent of our products is represented by dominator capable of measuring the time of the team controlling a certain territory and capable of broadcasting time wirelessly in a similar way to the bomb.

Details

We are planning to manufacture the first of our products, which is the bomb, during summer 2022. Other products are planned to be produced in accordance with the interest and demand of the users. Follow our Instagram to keep yourself up to date!

Our Ideas

Bomb

Firstly, we are planning to launch a project imitating a bomb, which serves as a plaything capable of counting points for a particular team. More importantly, it can behave similarly as bombs in video games, thus entering a code for its activation is needed. After having entered the code, the countdown begins. When the countdown comes to an end, the bomb “explodes”, and the round is won by the attacking team. But if the defending team manages to defuse the bomb in time, the defending team is the winner. At the same time, the bomb transmits its present status wirelessly during the game, so the players using Duncal tracker can track the time until the “explosion” via their devices.

Dominator

The next wave is about to bring the best products we have come up with so far – dominator capable of counting time by multiple means. What are the main benefits of it? With this device we present a new way of game options for players and game arenas. All you need to do is to place one or even more dominators on the field, create up to a maximum of 5 playing teams, and the game may begin. The task of each team is to seize control of the dominator by pressing the appropriate button and then defend that particular place. The more dominators the team occupies, the more points (measured by time) it gradually gains. Players with Duncal trackers can see the present status of all the dominators as well as the points of all the teams in real-time. For those who do not use Duncal tracker, there is a LED strip flashing the colour of the team currently controlling the dominator.

Duncal Tracker

Duncal tracker is a device displaying all the information transmitted via Duncal comms, bomb, and dominators. The device is designed to be attached to a weapon, but we are also working on a version that would be attached to the wrist in a similar way to a smartwatch.

Who we are?

We are a team of students and graduates of engineering. Our field of specialization covers almost all types of engineering as well as production technology, materials, electrotechnology, programming, and the like. The project leader, Samuel Lipták, is a student of mechatronics and an airsoft player, too.

For what purpose do we raise money?

Your donation will be used for the production of the bomb prototype, which will be manufactured by using a 3D printing technology initially. You will have an opportunity to get this version of the bomb if you donate. Eventually, the final version made of highly durable composite material will be available, which you will have an opportunity to get as well by your donation.
