Shum Davar has finished recording the audio and video for the band's new album. Concerts are being cancelled and we now need you just right now. The end of this fundraise is coming, so lets release it with us in October 2020!
Author: Shum Davar
Shum Davar plays folk fusion. The band has been together since 2013, and in the fall of 2019, the time came to record new music. Because Shum Davar is surrounded by many creative people, not only from the domain of music, but also from such areas as fine arts and crafts, our plan was to create something truly exceptional. In February 2020, we did a live recording of our music, took photographs, shot a video, and spent a half of a year working on post production and the graphic design.
We are asking you to help us raise funds for releasing Shum Davar's new album titled Folklore Fusions. In return, we offer you a host of rewards, not the least important of which is that you'll feel good about being part of this project. We understand that we've taken on a difficult task in a difficult time. At the same time, we know full well that Shum Davar is surrounded by many great people who won't hesitate to lend a helping hand. We are very grateful to all of you who will.
We are an international band that plays Klezmer, Romani, Eastern European, and Caucasian folk songs. We want to give the world a new CD. The financing of the project has been complicated by the coronavirus pandemic. We recorded the music in February 2020, and we have everything else we need to wrap up the project, both the music and the graphics. The new album features traditional songs from Caucasus, Iran, Galicia, and Cieszyn. On top of that, we are taking our music further by adding non-music content. All of the graphics feature handwoven Afghan rugs. Motifs from them will also appear on shirts we'll wear at the launch. Just like rugs are woven from a multitude of threads, so does our music embody various influences that unite it, forming a homogeneous artefact. In launching a HIT HIT campaign, we are turning to our fans with a demand for help with finishing the project. Note that there will be two launches this time – in Prague and in Hradec Králové. You are all invited!
All rewards include shipping in CZ - shipping abroad also possilbe, just write us na e-mail: shumdavarband@gmail.com
Design of shirts with hand-decorated elements of Afghan fabrics. We do not offer these as a reward, but they are part of our audiovisual concept. We will wear them on the stages and you will (quite possibly) like it:

Why rugs? The texture of handcrafted fabrics is similar to the music played by Shum Davar. Rugs made from threads of various colors and, analogously, folk music embodying various cultural influences combined with honest hard work are what makes anyone a better person – today like hundreds of years ago.

The coronavirus crisis has taken all of us aback, but it won't stop us!
In two and a half days, we recorded live 22 tracks and a long footage of captivating video. From that, we've picked 10 tracks and made one video clip for this CD. If things turn out well, next year will see the release of all the stuff that didn't fit on this album... ;-)
We are an international band based on Prague, Czech Republic. We've been together since 2013. We play Jewish, Romani, Eastern European, and Caucasian music.
We are self-releasing a CD with audiovisual content that is intended to please both your ears and eyes. The creative process fulfills us, but it also depletes money in our wallets. To be able to complete this project, we need your help. In return, we have a host of rewards for you!
