How it began

It all began in 2013 when Elias got his first guitar for Christmas, learnt to play four chords and decided to go busking in Scotland in the summer. When he returned to the Czech Republic, he applied to study at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, but he didn’t succeed at first, so he went back to Scotland and spent a year travelling around Scotland and Ireland, working in hostels in exchange for accommodation and playing in the streets. Then he knocked on the door of the Theatre Faculty once again and this time he was accepted to the Alternative and Puppet Theatre department. Luckily, he retained his passion for music, and he continued to busk in Prague and to write his own songs. One day he joined a spontaneous jam session where he met our violinist Filip Kottek. They have played together ever since. As a duo, they have already played hundreds of gigs at Irish bars in Prague. Later on, they were joined by a subtle girl named Lucie with a massive instrument – a double bass – and by a great man (in mind as well as in height) Iby Pop, who also performs as a solo player, but in our band he plays the drums and he adds a new dimension to the back vocals with his velvet bass voice. We believe that we share something magical and beautiful and we would like this feeling to materialize by means of our CD. 

What is our goal?

We want to record an album with ten songs in both English and Czech. We try to be as honest as we can in our creations, and we want to capture genuine emotions and an original image of our world in our songs and to bring something new to the music culture. 

Details

Acoustic folk band Elias and the Shepherds. We play so-called “fresh folk“. Our music is a fusion of Irish traditional melodies and contemporary folk. These days we’re recording our debut album, which will comprise ten original songs. Our frontman and lead singer, Elias Jerabek, learnt to play the guitar during his travels around Ireland and Scotland and now he writes both music and lyrics for our band. We are trying to collect money for the recording, mix and mastering of our songs and for the final production of the CD. 
The original vibe of our songs is based on Elias’s lyrics in both Czech and English and on the violin melodies of our violinist Filip Kottek. Shortly, we are Elias & the Shepherds – because there is simply nothing stronger than love between a man and a dog. And you can feel love this strong when you listen to the music of Elias & the Shepherds. 

Why are we doing this?

We want our work to be as good as possible, but we can’t make it without money. That’s why we are calling on you, our faithful (or future) fans and supporters, through the Hit-Hit platform and offering you the possibility to support us in our quest to capture our “hit‑hits“ on a CD forever.

    You will meet Filip, our virtuoso violinist, who will either teach you the basic techniques or he will advise you on how to get better if you already play this beautiful instrument. The lessons take place in Prague and they are 60 minutes long.
