REMEDY is a story of four young people getting on a sailing boat from the Canary Islands to the southern part of Senegal in order to bring water filters to people in need. The visual mosaic capture the escape from a consumer society and the course of finding the meaning of life in helping others. Their journey will convince you that we, as individuals, are able to make a significant change.
Our goal is to raise funds for the production of a documentary movie called Remedy. The movie will be a part of the “Water for Senegal” project, created by the non-profit organisation People of Hope. Founders of this organisation are young people, who have decided to use their knowledge, energy and time to help people in third-world countries. The idea is simple: Bringing reusable water filters to the area near Casamance river in south Senegal. The water flowing in the river is salty, thus the people living there are reliant on rainwater. It is stored in big, uncovered water tanks for months, making it an ideal place for all kinds of bacteria. Dirty and contaminated water is the main cause of illnesses for children and pregnant women.
But it does not end with distributing water filters among families in Senegal. It’s not an ordinary travel documentary. The movie will force the viewer to think about helping other people in need. Actively or passively, spreading the word about this problem, or coming here to volunteer, everything counts.
The raised funds will be used for movie making (portable hard drives, translator, equipment rent, …) Despite the fact we are making this movie without being paid for it, we need your help to cover basic expenses.
