MY!ART Creative photographic sheets for children!

Let's play with the photography! These are the photographic sheets, which let children participate in their creation! Each white surface on the photograph is intended for drawing! As soon as children draw these pictures, they will turn into THEIR ART!

Photographic illustration for children is something we are not quite used to, even though kids love photographs. Let's allow them to discover the real world through these pictures!

"Do you know why the book is called MY!ART ?"

MOJE!"As soon as I draw these sheets, they will turn into MY ART! They will become my very own artwork! I can frame and exhibit them! I can put my autograph on them. I can give them to someone! My mum, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, friends… Maybe as a birthday present!

What can I draw onto them? Anything at all! Each page contains a cloud sticker with a poem, which gives me inspiration what to draw there. But I might not even read it at all, maybe I already have an idea what to draw! Each sheet will be a complete original! None of them will look alike, because each author is different. What would my brother draw on the same sheet? And my cousin? Or my friend?

Besides, all the sheets will be kept in a folder, which can easily become a frame and stand on a table, lean against something or hang on a wall. I can even organize your own exhibition! Maybe we will find there the inspiration to take photos ourselves!

Will the children come by the photographic sheets?

During trial drawings of the sheets, I found myself fascinated by the stories unfolded by the children right in front of my eyes. I wonder what other images can be found in kids' imagination. Are you curious as well? Would you like to see the drawn sheets at an exhibition?

Help me to reach the goal amount for publishing and as soon as the sheets get to the kids, I will be happy to announce a competition for the best picture! It will be great to meet all the little authors at the opening in Prague :-)

— How long did the creation of the photographic sheets take?

This might surprise you… eight years! The first images for children came into existence in 2009, during the second year of my studies in the studio of photography. Step by step, I evolved the individual images into a book, which I presented as my bachelor's degree work in 2011. Since then, I have created many more images for children to draw on. I have picked a small selection and I finally have the opportunity to introduce it to you!

— What technique was used?

All images were captured by a digital camera, but none of them is a photomontage. Each picture captures an absolutely real staged scene in front of my camera lens, but at the same time each one of them plays with reality. The final form of these photographic sheets become a play with a white surface intended for drawing. If the sheets inspire you, you can try and take a similar picture with your kids. If you want to find more inspiration, I will be happy to see you at a course :)

— Why are the sheets complemented by texts on sticky notes?

These pages are not supposed to function as a collection of worksheets with tasks, but they intend to give children as much freedom as possible! That is why I don't want the texts to order the kids what to draw, but only give them a clue what they might draw. The rhymed form can give children a certain direction of how to work with the given image. Once the notes with the texts are removed, a blank space remains on the page, allowing the kids to fully use their fantasy. Therefore the text doesn't interfere in either the photographs, or the final impression of the child's drawing.

— Who is the author of the drawings found on the folder and in the video?

It is my great honour to present my youngest cousin Kubíček (11), who became the co-author of this book! I used one of his drawings for the cover of the book. And he draw the sheets for the video! One of the photographs shows him six years ago, posing by a wall for one of the first images of the original book :) And this sheet with him was drawn by another great illustrator, a son of our teaching assistant.

 

— Who is the author of the photographic sheets?

My name is Iveta, nice to meet you :) I have experienced years of wonderful studies and internships in the field of photography and visual design at various places in the Czech Republic, France and Belgium. Now I have many plans and ideas ahead of me which I'm trying to realise! One of them is also a newly founded group KUKKU, focusing on visual creation for children. Because I love to play!

— How did I come round to photographic illustration for children?

I am fascinated by the infinite potential of children's fantasy, which can be an interesting enrichment for our "adult" way of thinking. I feel very close to the children's world and I find it very inspiring. Not only due to the fact that I enjoy spending time with kids, but also because I sometimes still feel like a child myself. Even though as a child, I couldn't wait to grow up and be an adult, nowadays I often turn to (not only my own) childhood...
