My name is Veronika, I'm founder of the local clothing brand Dorota.Bebe.Organic. I create minimalist (capsule) collections that bring principles of sustainable fashion, such as the use of certified fabrics, ethical work conditions, fair wages etc. to live. I am glad that I met Irina and Sasha recently! They are excellent designers from Kiev, sisters who were forced to flee with their children to Prague, leaving all behind, including their sewing supplies. We agreed they would help me to create a new summer collection. This would allow them to settle on the czech market and break into the clothing industry once again.
The brand Dorota.Bebe.Organic is by far my biggest hobby and an obsession of a kind. I follow every single step of the creating process, making sure everything is perfect. With such a detailed approach, however, I often hit wall… It's a miracle to find a tailor who gets things done, is open-minded, always communicating and on top of that has a sense of detail. Lucky me, because my tailor Milena has the whole package! It didn't come by surprise that she's extremely busy. That’s why I started looking for another Milena…
Cut! February 24th. Panic, anguish and fear that the world will never be the same again. After days full of sadness and hysteria, the first constructive idea was born: “Thousands of women are fleeing Ukraine to my country, some of them are tailors who won't have the opportunity to sew.” So I published a Facebook post asking for recommendations for a Ukrainian tailor for my new summer collection. And that's when things started to move quickly…
When I first met Ira at a café, I found out that she came to Prague with her sister Sasha and their children and that they are both designers based in Kiev. Although our fashion concept differs and the language barrier is great (the girls don't speak much English and I can't even say hello in Ukrainian), we agreed that our collaboration still will make a lot of sense and will create something tangible in these hard times.
By pre-ordering our clothes, you will directly support Irina and Sasha, who will sew the entire collection. You will help us buy the equipment necessary for their work and you will support a local fashion brand with a strong ethical attitude. In addition, you will be rewarded with a timeless clothing item, made of certified fabric, perfectly sewn and fairly paid - which will carry this story on. Hopefully Irina and Sasha will be able to return home soon so they can revive and develop their own brand. With this cooperation I believe we can create at least some bright memories during these difficult times in Prague for them.
