Mezi Jeleny

Jelení is a former German village, now deserted place in middle of the beautiful nature in Ore Mountains, 860 m. We are an Indian-Czech family and we want to bring the whole place back to life. MeziJeleny will be open for travelers and nature lovers.

We are a Czech-Indian family, nature and travel lovers. People say we are brave and courageous, the truth is we are just following our dreams.

we moved to a former German village in Czech republic in Ore Mountains, 2km from German border. After the 2nd WW the village was displaced and homes destroyed. From 150 houses remained 5 of them. Our house was originally built in 1896 as a German hotel. It was not destroyed, they were accommodating soldiers in it. Then it was used as a popular holiday resort for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Czechoslovakia. After 1997 it was uninhabited. The house looks new at first glance from outside, but inside, as you can imagine, after so many years of inactivity it is in a poor condition and needs reconstruction. We want to bring the whole place back to life and we need lots of money, manpower and creative ideas. To do everything at once is almost impossible. First, we have started to live here from October 2014. We are slowly reconstructing the house with young volunteers from all around the world. It's a wonderful opportunity for us to experience the whole world in one place, Both sides benefits from this – getting know each other's culture, making friends and learn new things.

The next step, we plan for Ánandánam project. Dana is present, India has 

a strong tradition of giving gifts, of which the most precious gift is the gift of food. We do not offer food as charity, but to highlight the opportunity to do things differently than usual. We plan to offer to the tourists Indian food. They can pay as they wish.

Next, we prepare accommodation for undemanding, who likes to go hiking, cross-country skiing or bicycling. We also want to organize courses in Indian cooking, yoga, meditation or to offer place to people of various interest.
