The end of the year is a good opportunity to look back as well as forward to the next one. Whether you read the following text or not, we would like to wish you happy holidays and a fun end of the year. Enjoy the following days as much as the current situation allows. We would also like to thank everyone for their help, trust and support during this year.
This year’s Blavicon was supposed to have brought an epic ending of the narrative trilogy, along with a superb music line-up. The current situation crushed our plans, however, and we were forced not only to cancel the festival, but to come up with a quick strategy and a campaign for community financing. Above all, it is thanks to you, our awesome fans, that we were able to save Blavicon and rank among the TOP projects at the HitHit server of all time. Many people decided not to refund their ticket, which also helped us a lot. Thanks to all of you! We would also like to thank Attu Games, Xzone and Animefest for sponsorial gifts they provided for our rescue.
The campaign was not the end, though, and we started creating a system for reward administration, producing missing rewards and their subsequent distribution. We had to deal with countless unpleasant complaints because our supplier had been unable to deliver the right amount, sizes, and patterns repeatedly. The second wave of the epidemic slowed us greatly in finishing the board game and artbook. As an apology, we will produce both items in higher quality. We will inform you about these last rewards via email.
We also managed to do one more big thing this year – an event at Housův mlýn called “Hříšní lidé města novigradského”. For many people, it was the only bigger event of this year. For us, it was a test of a new concept and obligatory dress-code. In the end, the event went great and we are glad to have been able to organize it. Your reactions were really great!
The planned LAN party had to transform into an online party, and unfortunately, the costume ball was postponed by a whole year in the end. As you can see, this year was rather poor when it comes to events. Despite that, we think we managed to get what we could from it, given the current situation.
We also made big changes to our office and workshop. We enter the new year with the hope that the projects that are currently being prepared will go well and that we will be able to pay our operating costs and survive until the next Blavicon.
Specifically, we are talking about both physical and online events, and we hope there will be at least five of them in the next year. We also have two related projects up our sleeves, which involve mead. We will share more information about these soon and hopefully you will find them interesting.
We also plan to do a big review, upgrade and redesign of the Blavicon website and internal system. We need to “clean up” the source code and prepare it for future events. We aim to make using the web better and more efficient for you, our visitors.
We’ve got hundreds of hours of work behind us this year (no small portion being related to HitHit), and we enter 2021 with a vision of a better tomorrow. We’ve got a lot of ideas, so we can only hope they are successful and that we are able to survive until the next Blavicon in good health.
Thank you all very much for both your material and psychological support. Without you, we wouldn’t be here now. Enjoy the last days of this year, as much as you can and as much as the current situation allows. We hope to be able to meet you at the events we are currently planning for you.
