Blavicon, a unique medieval & Witcher-themed festival, has suffered a critical hit because of coronavirus and is now fighting for survival. Let's unite and try to make another year of this non-profit fan project happen.

What is Blavicon?

Blavicon is a globally unique non-profit project inspired by the Middle Ages and the world of the Witcher. The event combines live concerts, historic workshops and lectures, theatrical performances with audience interaction with the whole-cone game, LARP elements for visitors, videogame and board game rooms, etc. This project was created by fans for fans and now encompasses many other activities, such as photoshoots for cosplayers or independent cinematic production from the world of the Witcher.

Why doesn't the government or the insurance company compensate your damages caused by the festival's cancellation?

The agreement with our insurance company was assessed negatively because of so-called “higher power”. The situation with the government is similar, although the crisis law does show some promise. Unfortunately, it’s very uncertain if it applies to us and when, how much and if at all we get some money in the end. It will most likely take years for the compensation to be paid, and it doesn’t have to cover all the damages after all. However, we are obliged to refund tickets for our visitors in full and as soon as possible. Therefore, even if we did get some money from the government, it won’t solve our current predicament.

Why HitHit.cz, and not a transparent account, for example?

If we do not collect the required amount, we will cease to exist. We’re all in, so to speak, but we do not want to endanger our fans. The problem with a transparent account is that if we do not collect the target amount, the festival will perish and collected money will be used for paying off our debts. Therefore, our saviours would be in the worst situation, because they would get nothing. However, since we launch a crowd-funding campaign, we have a target amount, and if we do not reach it, all contributors will get their money back. We think it’s only fair.

Where will the money from this campaign go?

Mainly to pay off the damages caused by the coronavirus situation. We were expecting income from selling goods at the event, and we also had to pay for the bands or props, which is non-refundable. Suddenly, we also have to compensate all our visitors who requested a ticket refund. Above all else, collected money will go to paying off these claims. If we reach the target amount, we will be debt-free and can start again with zero. Anything collected above the target amount will go to the support of our activities and next years of Blavicon. We will keep you informed about how we use the surplus money, when such situation becomes real.

If we save Blavicon, when can we expect the next event?

Preparations of one year’s event take more than a year. Right now, we are on an unplanned hiatus, since we have to deal with incurred problems and do not know when we can return to those preparations. It also comes down to the development of the current global crisis, which is hard to predict. Therefore, we cannot give you any hard promises, but we hope to be able to make Blavicon 2021 happen. This is our current goal!

How does shipping work for the rewards?

The shipping is not included in the cost of the rewards, so you have to purchase as a separate reward. The shipping applies to an unlimited number of awards, so you only need to purchase shipping once for all your rewards. If you want the rewards sent to a country other than the Czech Republic, contact us – we will discuss this individually. By default, we will shop the packages via the DPD company. You can also collect the rewards in Prague in person.

Can I collect the reward in person outside Prague?

After individual agreement, we are able to have your rewards shipped to our clubhouses in Brno, Ostrava, Liberec, Tabor, Plzen or Hradec Kralove. However, this needs to be agreed upon in advance.
