We're in pre-production of a short about death. Heavy? A little, but not too heavy! After a success of Borecky's first film he's coming up with another one and he has a plan for this one. Festivals, interviews, premiere... The entire Hollywood package!

The story is based on true events that have occurred last summer. While out with a friend, Alex (the writer and director) had received news from hospital of his mother's passing. Even though he has been preparing for it this news is always very difficult to process and can definitely affect a person. Might be the expectation of the end that helped Alex to process the news fairly in peace. It made him think: "Must the reaction to death always be sadness and tears? And if so, what is wrong with me that I don't cry or feel sad."
Untold Pieces tells a story of different views and reaction to a difficult situation, like death of someone close. Death, however, isn't the sole primary theme of the film. Casey and Jenny are having a night pout over some beers and during their conversation Casey hints at the topic of dealing with death and what is an appropriate reaction to someone close passing away. As the night goes by and they both have more to drink Casey reveals that one of the calls he had received during the night, he received news from hospital about his mother passing away. However, Casey is very calm and more than the death of his mom he's concerned about his reaction to the news which is not what he expected it to be. He is, if anything, quite okay with it all. Casey and Jenny are experiencing something that has never occurred in their friendship before where they are both confronted by very different, yet still intense emotions of the other. This is new for both of them. Can they navigate through this difficult situation and find a common ground?
The main character is CASEY. He is very a calm person who can always find his own solutions to any problem. He can approach bothering situations with humour and complain about it with ease, ideally to his best friend - Jenny. He loves to have a beer or a night out with Jenny to shake all his troubles away and regain energy. One of those nights is the one in Untold Pieces.
JENNY, as mentioned, is Casey's best friend. She is sassy, very straightforward and doesn't go far for an incorrect and insulting joke. her friendship with Casey is very strong, so much so that no topic is tabu. Casey's composure allows Jenny to be snark with him, make fun of him and expects the same of him. Despite all of these attributes, Jenny is very sensitive and empathetic. She's been through a lot in the past and learned to navigate through difficult situations with humour. When Casey tells her his news, Jenny's reaction is very different from what she or he are used to.
Alexandr Borecky --- Director / Casey / Producer / Screenwriter (the only thing missing is model, but he doesn't have the measurements...)
Untold Pieces is Alex's second film describing true events. He was trained as an actor in Los Angeles and found his way to writing and directing trough studying films and screenplays on his own. His biggest role models are Quentin Tarantino, Aaron Sorkin and Paul Thomas Anderson.
Jenn Kirk - Jenny
Jenn is an actress from California living in Prague. Her enthusiasm for film is just fantastic. She has already been part of productions such as Extraction 2 and Army of Thieves. Her ability to express character's emotions is brilliant. Alex and Jenny are meeting for the second time on set as she has played supporting role in his previous film Origin. This time she will be portraying the character of Jenny.
Yassmine Najime - Producer
Yassmine has jumped into the role of producer with enthusiasm and passion from the very beginning, helping the film to form from words on paper to silver screen. Her connection to film is very strong and her knowledge of it contributes to the development of our project as well. Ideas for improvement, clear presentation of emotions and story as well as her organisation skills help the film move forward rapidly and steadily. We're happy and lucky to have her on the team!
Jan Sedláček - Co-Director
Honza and Alex have met on the production of Origin, where Honza was working as 1st AD. They kept in touch after the film was finished and have built a very strong and close friendship. Honza remained involved in this project, helping with screenplay revisions and feedback. During filming, he will become an on-set director, taking over for Alex who will be concentrating on his and Jenn's performance. Honza's knowledge of the story, his reliability are the ideal combination for a Co-Director job!
Jessica Radlovacki - Director of Photography
Jess' keen eye for composition and detail plus her rich knowledge of films is a perfect combination of skills that serve her well in her job as a Director of Photography. Her ideas on how to move the story forward through blocking, composition and camera movement is simply amazing and her contribution to the film's pre-production is not only major but essential! She and Alex have worked together on Origin and have established very efficient workflow that gives the script an actual form. Very excited to have her on the team again! ?
Marie Dančí - 2nd AD / script supervisor
Marie is a young actress who has recently jumped into the world of cinema! She will work as a 2nd AD and Script Supervisor on the project and therefore will oversee actors', their needs, performances and the storyline continuity. Marie has a great eye for detail and sense of story pacing, hence she is a very valuable member of the team and we're happy to have her! ?
We're preparing the project with a team of people that have already worked together on Alex's first film Origin, which had been selected to over 30 festivals out of which it has won 7 awards, became finalist seven times and twice semi-finalist. Similar team is coming together to follow up on the success of Origin and adding a very experienced producer with experience from HBO and Warner Bros.
"I want my films to open topics that aren't always comfortable, but are real and authentic. I want the characters to be confronted by these topics through a natural dialogue the same way we are confronted by them in real life. With this film we want to send a message that any reaction to death of a close person is the exact right and appropriate reaction and that it is okay to feel anything you're feeling at the moment despite of what the people around you might expect you to feel."
Money is very important to make a film. We're currently in pre-production of the film, planning to shoot it on 18th and 19th of July. It is expensive to make a film so any help is very welcomed! We're planning to use the money we collect for the actual production (equipment, location, crew...) as well as for post-production (editing, sound editing, etc.). The amount we'd like to collect here will cover only a part of the entire budget. Total expenses will be much higher, but contributions from hithit are very important as they will help push the film to another level. By contributing you are supporting young and aspiring filmmakers to develop their talent and deepen their passion for film for which we are very grateful and thank you in advance for those contributions ?
