A new book about Prague Burlesque, a phenomenon of Prague nightlife, is soon to be published.

The narrative publication, Prague Burlesque - Book Of Tease, maps the first 14 years in the life of the Prague Burlesque ensemble. The troupe brought the rediscovered genre of burlesque to the Czech Republic and developed this fantastically decadent, old-world art into a unique form, not found anywhere else in Europe.

About us

Prague Burlesque is an independent ensamble, founded by David N. Jahn in 2007. Prague Burlesque perform each Friday at the permanently sold-out theatre Royal in Prague's Vinohrady district. They have a regular engagement in Warsaw, Krakow, Bratislava, Brno and Karlovy Vary. They often attend exclusive corporate or private events. The ensambles aim is to build longterm relationships, partnerships and collaborations with renown global brands such as Lasvit, Hendrick's Gin, Perrier Jouet and others.

Why should you support our book?

Memories of those fourteen years, the first fourteen years in the life of Prague Burlesque, are captured in an opulent forthcoming book.

Publishing a memoir of nightlife is extremely important. In no other area is memory under such a threat! Has it really been fourteen years since the Prague Burlesque ensemble was born? Pioneers in Prague, who carried the torch of decadent fantasy and erotic charm, reignited the flame of old-world burlesque - the wonderful genre in which musical cabaret and theatrical avant-garde coexist against the backdrop of a uproarious house. Wherein the poetry of sensuality flirts with the poetics of nonsense.

The book also includes uncensored images from behind the scenes and from after-show parties - arguably comparable to witness accounts of Warhol's Factory. Prague Burlesque - Book Of Tease speaks mainly through visual imagery. Those fourteen years were captured by masters of photography such as Adam Holý, Alžběta Jungrová, Václav Jirásek, Pavel Hejný and many others. Elegant graphic design will be provided by Studio Najbrt, with words added by Ondřej Formánek. Such a book will never grow old or out of fashion… Prague Burlesque – Book Of Tease.

Rewards

We decided to do crowdfunding after a long year during which we couldn't perform. We will rather ask our fans and friends for support in exchange for beautiful rewards rather than beg for subsidies. We will use the collected amount to cover the costs of graphic design and print of the book. Our attractive rewards include signature cards, beautiful posters from different seasons, as well as the delicious limited edition of Hendrick's Gin - LUNAR. If you support our book, you can also get our new music album Gangsters of Love, which will be released in autumn this year. Furthermore, there are VIP tickets to our show which will be back in September on the stage of the Royal theatre in Prague. You can also book a performance by Miss Cool Cat or Sonny Vargas. Of course, a preorder of the BOOK OF TEASE itself for a discounted price is available. Last but not least, you can become a sponsor, partner or producer of our project. In any case, you will make us very happy!
